When a four year old little girl wanted to cuddle a cub, her parents dutifully made it happen, maybe they were naive, but this is the risk you will always take when interacting with animals that, however they were raised, will ALWAYS be wild at heart.
This poor child’s scalp was torn off & her skull pierced by the claw of a ‘juvenile’ lioness at Weltevrede Lion Farm in Heilbron
‘The juvenile lioness reportedly got hold of Pieter, who sustained minor injuries, but Dina-Marie’s scalp was ripped off and her skull was penetrated by the lion’s claw.
Farm manager Charlene van Wyk confirmed the incident, calling it a “freak accident”.’
This isn’t a freak accident, it’s the inevitable waiting to happen & apparently far from the only one to happen at this particular farm.
Anyone who knows me, knows how I deplore this trade & whilst I am truly sad that this little girl has paid a huge price for this interaction, it only highlights what those of us doing what we can to end it are fighting for.
Lions should not be ‘farmed’ & they should not be a tourist attraction.
If your child asks to cuddle a lion ~ JUST SAY NO, the price just may turn out to be tooooo high!!

On the 4th May at #TEAMEARTH we screened Blood Lions, listened to Richard Peirce, who wrote ‘Cuddle Me ~ Kill Me’ & screened the trailer to ‘Lions, Bones & Bullets’ with an aim to informing people WHY this vile industry needs to STOP.
This week a FOUR YEAR OLD little girl is in a coma with her scalp torn off & her skull pierced by a lioness claw !!
One day people will start to realise that however a wild animal is raised, it will ALWAYS be wild at heart, this lioness should never have been in this situation, the little girl would then never had the opportunity & money would never have been put into the pockets of these soulless sh!ts making money from lion bones & trophy hunts!!
DO NOT risk your child’s life for a cheap thrill, it might just end up costing more than you could ever imagine !!

I have no sympathy for this child or her family. What parent buys a ticket to interact with a wild animal ? What parent is ruled by a four year old child ?
