Leopards are the most widespread species of wild cats in the world. Recent studies show that they have lost over 75% of their range. They are no longer present in at least 49% of their historic range in Africa and over 50% of their historic range in Asia. Find more on wildlifeday.org
As part of our World Wildlife Day celebrations, we would like to look back on the release of a female leopard named Ahimsa. Ahimsa was rescued from a conflict situation and brought to the N/a’an ku sê Foundation Wildlife Sanctuary for rehabilitation. She has since settled in well to her new environment in the Hardap National Park, and we continue to monitor her movements and activity on a daily basis.
Ahimsa ~ meaning
(in the Hindu, Buddhist, and Jainist tradition) respect for all living things and avoidance of violence towards others.
