LIBERIA CHIMPANZEE RESCUE & PROTECTION
Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue and Protection’s (LCRP) mission is to provide lifelong care for chimpanzees who are victims of Liberia’s bushmeat and live pet trades and help drive dynamic strategies in the fight against chimpanzee trafficking and the conservation of wild populations.
We are dedicated to providing the highest standards of care and welfare for chimpanzees who are victims of the bushmeat and pet trades and working with the local and international community to provide social, economic and environmental benefits for all. We also continue our commitment to partnering with all stakeholders in safeguarding the futures of the chimpanzees abandoned by the New York Blood Center.
LCRP is a Liberian NGO with diverse and collaborative partnerships designed to care for current chimpanzee residents and to development long term strategies to combat the illegal trade of chimpanzees and other protected wildlife; rescue additional captive chimpanzees: and participate in comprehensive conservation education, awareness and protection efforts.
LCRP is excited to be working with animal welfare, health, and research organizations in Liberia to improve the overall health and well being of animals, both domestic and wild, and the community. Some of LCRP’s initiatives include World Rabies Day, emerging disease research, vaccination and spay/neuter programs, and participation in the development of wildlife regulations and Conservation Action Planning.
SUMATRAN ORANGUTAN CONSERVATION PROGRAMME
Confiscation
The SOCP collaborates with the Indonesian Government’s Conservation Authorities (Ditjen KSDAE) to locate and confiscate orangutans kept illegally as pets and to assist them in prosecuting actors involved in the illegal trade of orangutans.
Rehabilitation
Confiscated orangutans are brought to the SOCP’s purpose built Orangutan Quarantine Centre outside of Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia where they undergo extensive medical checks and are rehabilitated in socialization groups and on-site ‘forest schools’.
Reintroduction
Once deemed mature enough and fit for returning to the wild, orangutans are transferred in groups to one of our Reintroduction Centres. Here they will be released to form new, genetically viable populations in extensive, protected forest blocks.
Orangutan Haven
The Orangutan Haven is the solution for those orangutans under our care that can’t be returned to the wild. Here they will live on naturalistic islands, as ambassadors for their wild counterparts, where they will be instrumental in improving visitor perceptions and attitudes of nature and wildlife.

Our wildlife research is crucial if we are to ever resolve human wildlife conflicts.
COSTA RICA ANIMAL CENTRE
MISSION AND VISION
At the Costa Rica Animal Rescue Center we are dedicated to protect and help endangered Costa Rican wildlife with all means available to us. Our first and foremost goal is to ensure the welfare of the animals at the center and help them recover from both, physical and psychological wounds that have arisen from their past suffering.
Since many animals become victims of abuse in the tourism sector or illegal pet trade, we want to raise awareness about their mistreatment. Our work is our way of leading the change to more animal welfare and a sustainable way of living in coexistence with wildlife.
