Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection have in the last two days received orphans 51 & 52

Please remember, Jimmy & Jenny have only been in Liberia for FOUR years having relocated their to take care of the ‘Blood Island Chimps’

It is WONDERFUL that the Liberia authorities are now confiscating these precious little bundles & that the first prosecution has been secured, but think about in numbers terms ~ they are averaging THIRTEEN orphans coming into their care a year (though the majority of orphans have arrived in the later months than at a steady pace)

Tomorrow is #givingtuesady ~ can you give to help feed these little lost souls, can you even imagine how many chimps have been slaughtered for each one to arrive at LCRP, ENTIRE families !!

Our newest arrival – this little girl was a ‘surrender’ from someone who bought her from a trader many months ago to save her but then neglected to give her the care she so desperately needed as a tiny and extremely traumatized infant who’d experienced her mother’s murder and having been kidnapped to be sold on the black market. Her level of malnutrition is severe and her development so far behind she can’t even grasp properly for her age. She came dressed in a onesie, with a diaper and burdened with a chain around her neck. It’s likely she laid on her back most of these past months and clearly was fed little and very infrequently. The good news is she’s got some spirit left and after only a few days of intensive care she’s perking up a bit, drinking cerelac and juice and expanding her diet. She’s even telling us when she wants a bottle. She’s a gorgeous girl – much more so without the terrible human clothing and diaper. We can see her bones through her skin and she has zero muscle right now but she’s starting to show some interest in sitting up and interacting. As you can see in the first image, sweet Princess immediately took up her protection duty, helping me provide baby with soft and warm security. Its #GivingTuesday soon – wonderful for those who are able to donate and help offer care for LCRP’s fifty plus chimpanzee orphans. 💚 DONATE LINK IN BIO! 💚 Visit site in bio to donate🖤 IMPORTANT NOTE: **Chimpanzees are not and should not be pets or forced to live with humans.** The chimpanzee orphans at LCRP's sanctuary in West Africa are victims of the bushmeat and illegal pet trade. Their mothers were tragically killed by poachers and require around the clock care. Thanks to dedicated caregivers and staff, the orphans are being rehabilitated so that they will be able to thrive with others in a natural and safe environment when they’re older. Please support LCRP’s efforts to rescue chimpanzees in need to keep wild chimps wild 💖
