After returning from a volunteering holiday in Namibia, an ad randomly came up on Facebook for the ‘Ape Alliance Annual Panel Meeting’ I had not been to anything like this before, but inspired by my time spent with baboons in Namibia I decided to attend. Turns out that I am very lucky that Ian Redmond holds events throughout the year in my home town of Bristol.
If I am honest, I didn’t feel I took much away from the night, but it was where I came across Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection whom I now try to raise funds for, including jumping out of a perfectly good plane & SOCP ~ an amazing orangutan rescue. However, over the weeks that followed, between my volunteering experience & my evening at Ian’s event I kept thinking that I would like to make a difference & I came up with a rather big conservation event where I would screen Blood Lions, Unchained & have several guest speakers ~ baring in mind I know NO ONE in conservation world, I decided to give it a go, I first approached Blood Lions & they said YES I could screen the film & I thought sh!t, I might actually have to make this happen !! Not knowing anybody, I very cheekily messaged Ian & he said yes, if he was in the country he would love to be a guest speaker as it reminded him of when he had the responsibility of screening the West Country premier of Gorillas in the Mist (Ian worked alongside Dian Fossey & also new Digit) !! So ~ to cut a long story short, Ian was in the country & spoke at my event #Teamearth as did a host of other amazing conservationists & Ian also said he would love to speak at an event I was due to hold this year, but had to cancel due to covid, ‘Lion Farming, Trophy Hunting & Conservation’ though we hope it will happen next spring time & I am quite confident the other speakers got on board because Ian was already there & gave my event some credibility !!
SO
Now it’s my turn to help Ian out with his project ~ Ecostreamz, a channel where you can see important, often award winning films & documentaries that will never make it onto mainstream television because they deal with difficult issues that may not make easy viewing.
Here is Ian explaining better than I can
and Dr Jane Goodall ~ ‘Ecostreamz will provide the same service as Netflix’
