Very proud to announce that
Richard Peirce
will be one of our guest speakers on the day, talking about his book ‘Cuddle Me ~ Kill Me’ & the accompanying film, out next summer ‘Lions, Bones & Bullets’, for which he will be showing a 12 minute short, to introduce the film, as well as a book signing of this & some of his other titles.
Richard has had a lifelong passion for wildlife, and sharks in particular have fascinated him all his life. He has been fortunate enough to encounter nature’s most iconic animals all over the world.
Richard is a committed wildlife conservationist who now spends all of his time on various projects either trying to contribute to the conservation of specific species. Part of Richard’s royalties for Cuddle Me, Kill Me, are being donated to the Born Free Foundation.”
“He founded Richard Peirce Shark Conservation in 1999 which morphed into the highly successful Shark Conservation Society in 2008 with Richard as the main expedition organiser and chairman until 2015. In 2006 he was the first person to start cage diving with blue sharks in the UK as an eco-tourist activity, and has been a strong advocate of shark eco-tourism for many years. He was one of the earliest members of The Shark Trust and then joined the board and became chairman for twelve years from which he stepped down in 2015. In late 2016 he re-joined the board of trustees of The Shark Trust.”
I came across Richard when I purchased a signed copy of ‘Cuddle Me ~ Kill Me’ through the Born Free Foundation.
The book starts off with the story of Oliver & Obi, rescued from the lion farming industry in South Africa, I quickly read the book on my bus journeys to & from work & am pleased to say that inspired, I quickly signed up to volunteer at Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuary, Oliver & Obi’s safe, forever home, along with several other cat’s rescued from this hideous industry & other horrendous situations. I returned last Sunday after two spiritual weeks in the presence of these magnificence boys & would like to thank Richard from the bottom of my heart for making me aware of the plight of these lions & for inspiring me for the experience I have just had.
Whilst at Panthera, I also managed to read ‘The Poachers Moon’ & ‘Giant Steps’. The books are all produced in the same format & I really enjoy Richards straight forward story telling & information delivering style ~ would highly recommend that everyone who attends the event, purchases at least one of his books, I am sure you will enjoy the read!!
Thank you Richard for believing in my event & supporting it with your presence, welcome to the team !!
